The initial announcement of Mediatek’s new eight core MT6592 chip didn’t seem to spark up much interest. After all, it’s designed, in typical Mediatek fashion, to be an efficient, low power, and low cost chip. But perhaps an Antutu score beating out Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 800 is enough to make people pay attention.

Galaxy S4′s latest benchmark confirms Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa kills Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600
Today at SamMobile, we received the latest benchmark tests of the Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (Exynos 5 Octa variant) with Samsung’s latest test firmware installed and the results are highly impressive. In previous test firmwares Samsung had clocked the Exynos 5 Octa CPU to 1.8GHz but in the most recent test firmware it has been decreased to 1.6GHz, as Samsung officially announced.
There are, currently, 3 variants of the Galaxy S4:
GT-I9500 – Exynos 5 Octa 1.6 GHz without LTE
GT-I9505 – Snapdragon 600 1.9 GHz with LTE
SHV-E300S – Exynos 5 Octa 1.8 GHz with LTE
GT-I9500 – Exynos 5 Octa 1.6 GHz without LTE
GT-I9505 – Snapdragon 600 1.9 GHz with LTE

LG D801 scores highest GLBenchmark to date
An unannounced LG D801 smartphone looks to be one of the most powerful devices to date, according to recently uncovered GLBenchmark GPU benchmarking scores. Found to be running Android 4.2.2, the LG handset also figures to have a Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor and Adreno 330 GPU . Screen resolution is listed at 1794 x 1080, or 1920 x1080 factoring in virtual buttons, so we might expect a display of around 5-inches.
Qualcomm announces new lightning-fast Snapdragon chips 600 and 800 !!!
At CES, Qualcomm recently announced two new chipset sure to impress: The Snapdragon 600 and the Snapdragon 800. How impressive, you ask? Let’s start with the 600, which has:
- Quad Core Krait 300 CPU at speeds up to 1.9 GHz per core
- Adreno 320 GPU
- LPDDR3 RAM support
- Up to 40-percent better performance than the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
The 600 series will be featured in devices starting this summer, which is far enough away. For the 800, we’ll have to wait until sometime in 2014. Worth the wait? Let’s check out the specs of the 800:
